My core belief is that student journalism teaches leadership.
I believe that simply by doing your work as a student journalist, you are practicing leadership.
I believe that your advisers are teaching you leadership skills as truly as they are teaching you photography, writing, design and editing skills.
Everything you include in your publication — and everything you exclude — is a testament to your leadership.
You make tough decisions for the good of the community. You include every member of the community in your publication — or at least make a serious effort to. You exclude images and quotes that would damage the subject. You are truthful, accurate and objective. You are leaders.
It’s the truest thing I know about you. And I’m so proud of you for it.
