Overcoming Fear & Self-Doubt

How to Stop Holding Yourself Back

Fear and self-doubt have a way of sneaking in right when you’re about to take a leap. They whisper all the reasons you’re not ready, not qualified, not enough. If that sounds familiar, welcome to being human.

Here’s the thing—those voices are loud, but they don’t have to run the show. You can acknowledge them without letting them drive. Let’s talk about how to overcome fear and self-doubt so you can move forward with confidence (even when confidence feels like a stretch).

Fear lies. Convincingly!

Self-doubt is tricky. It doesn’t always sound like “I’m not good enough.” Sometimes, it shows up as perfectionism. Procrastination. That little voice saying, “Maybe next year.”

Fear? Fear is a shapeshifter. It might sound like:

  • “What if I fail?”

  • “What if people judge me?”

  • “What if I’m just not meant to do this?”

I get it. Because I’m right there with you.

Confession: I’m still acting ‘as if’.

You know that phrase, “Fake it till you make it”? I prefer “Act as if.” Because let’s be real—imposter syndrome is real, and I feel it every damn day.

When I get bogged down in it, I remind myself of all the generous folks who have asked me to do this. (Thanks, y’all!) I think about every time a coach has helped me push through my own fear. And now? This is just me paying it forward.

So if you’re waiting to feel 100% ready? That moment may never come. But you can act as if. Show up as the person you’re becoming. One day, you’ll realize you’re not acting anymore.

Who helped you get here? Now go be her.

Think about it—who encouraged you when you were doubting yourself? Who saw something in you before you could see it in yourself? Who told you, “You’ve got this” when you weren’t sure you did?

Now, go do that. For yourself. For someone else.

Overcoming fear and self-doubt isn’t about never feeling them again. It’s about choosing to move forward anyway.

And if you need someone in your corner? Someone to remind you that you can do this? That’s what I’m here for.
