Imposter Syndrome Is Just Fear in a Fancy Coat
Here’s what I’m releasing: I am letting go of my fear of failure AND I am letting go of my fear of success.
Every month, I do a “burn it all down and start over” ritual. I sit with myself and I meditate on what I’m releasing—and I let it all go. This month is all about letting go of imposter syndrome. Letting go of the terror of starting. Embracing the wild ride that is this business.
Because if I wait until I feel 100% ready? I’ll be waiting forever.
Then, like clockwork, the universe handed me this gem from Witches.of.Insta: "Embrace imposter syndrome. Revel in the fact that you've fooled everyone. You are a trickster goddess."
That’s it. That’s the move.
Imposter syndrome is just fear in a fancy coat.
Let’s be real—imposter syndrome is fear. It’s fear of stepping up. Fear of being seen. Fear of what happens when we actually succeed.
It whispers, You don’t belong here.
It hisses, You’re about to get caught.
It insists, You don’t actually know what you’re doing.
And you know what?
Maybe you don’t. But neither did the last person who sat where you’re sitting.
You’re not an imposter. You’re an innovator.
We are told that competence looks a certain way. That expertise comes with a checklist. That leadership is granted, not claimed.
But the most successful people aren’t necessarily the best. They’re the ones who stepped up first.
They said yes before they felt ready.
They put their names in the hat when they were still Googling the job description.
They showed up anyway.
And that’s what you’re doing.
The game is rigged. So what?
Do you think the people who came before you had it all figured out? Spoiler alert: they didn’t.
The difference between them and you? They acted like they belonged. They moved with the confidence of a mediocre white man in a Patagonia vest. They claimed space.
So take that energy. Fake it until it’s not fake anymore. Move like you belong. Because you do.
Your challenge: Start noticing when imposter syndrome pops up. Not to fight it, but to recognize it as a sign you’re in the right place.
The feeling of I have no idea what I’m doing? That’s just proof that you’re leveling up.
So let’s embrace the trickster energy and revel in the fact that we got in the door.
We are magicians. We are shapeshifters. We are the ones rewriting the rules.
And if we’re “faking it”? Then let’s fake it so well the universe has no choice but to make it real.
Your Turn
Imposter syndrome isn’t proof you don’t belong—it’s proof you’re leveling up.
So tell me: What’s one space you’re stepping into that feels just a little too big?
Drop it in the comments. Journal about it. Say it out loud. Claim it.
